Advisory Notice: Contact Tracing Scam

California residents are being alerted to COVID-19 contact tracing scams. This week, the CA Attorney General said that scammers are using calls, texts and emails, pretending to be contact tracers to trick people into giving sensitive information, such as financial data and social security numbers.

Real contact tracers will ONLY ask you about your medical symptoms and the people you may have been in contact with. They will never ask for your Social Security number, or financial or health insurance information. If someone claiming to be a contact tracer asks for any kind of financial data or tries to charge you money, it’s a scam! Please report it.
