    Red Flag Warnings & Fire Weather Watches

    The National Weather Service issues Red Flag Warnings & Fire Weather Watches to alert fire departments of the onset, or possible onset, of critical weather and dry conditions that could lead to rapid or dramatic increases in wildfire activity. A Red Flag Warning is issued for weather events which may result in extreme fire behavior that will occur within 24 hours.     Fire on I-280 at Meridian Avenue in San Jose Threatens Structures

    A brush fire on southbound Interstate 280 at Meridian Avenue in San Jose has closed the off-ramp on Friday afternoon. The fire broke out at around 4:11 p.m. near the Meridian Avenue off-ramp. There are heavy smoke and fire in the area. Structures are also threatened as a result of the fire. But at around 5 p.m., firefighters tweeted the forward progress of the fire has been stopped.
