County Seeks Volunteers to Participate on Boards and Commissions

Do you enjoy activities at County parks? Are you passionate about senior care, women's issues or animal welfare? The County of Santa Clara may have volunteer opportunities that meet your interests. We are seeking dynamic volunteers to participate on County Boards and Commissions on issues including social services, historical preservation, parks and recreation, senior care, agricultural preservation, animal welfare, domestic violence prevention, sister county cultural relationships, consumer affairs and many more.


Volunteers are essential to many organizations including our County Government. The Boards and Commissions serve in an advisory role to the Board of Supervisors. For more information and to see a list of vacancies, visit:

To apply for a sister county commission (Taiwan, Italy, Russia), fill out the application and email to sistercounties@ceo.sccgov.org:

For additional information or if you have questions, contact the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisor at Bnc@cob.sccgov.org or (408) 299-5001. Each member of the Board of Supervisors appoints volunteers to represent their district on Commissions and Boards.

Appointments are made on a regular basis. All volunteer positions are unpaid. Terms are three to four years and each member of a commission may serve up to three consecutive terms. All board and commission meetings are held at the County Government Center and are open to the public.
