Financial Assistance to Families w/Children Who Receive Free Or Reduced-Price School Meals

Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) is a food benefit to help families in California buy food when school is closed. Children are eligible for P-EBT if their school is closed due to coronavirus and they are/were eligible for free or reduced price school meals.  Below here are some brief points about P-EBT.

  • P-EBT is separate and apart from CalFresh

  • P-EBT will be administered by the state

  • Children who get CalWORKs, CalFresh, Medi-Cal or Foster Care benefits do not need to apply

  • P-EBT will be issued to children who were eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school

  • P-EBT card is expected to be mailed in the later part of May 2020 or apply online before June 30th, 2020

  • P-EBT cards will be issued to household’s and will be under oldest child’s name Families will receive up to $365 per child
