The following is information about the City of San José’s response to the latest guidance from the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department to protect the health of our community to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and reduce the number of people infected. Read the latest County guidance. The health and safety of our employees, residents, businesses, and visitors remains the highest priority for the City of San José. The City of San José formed a Pandemic Management Team in late January, and activated its Emergency Operations Center virtually on February 28. On March 5, the City of San José progressed to Stage 4, High Response Level, of its Pandemic Response Plan. City of San José Flash Reports will be issued at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. Updates will be posted to the City of San José website, and communities can follow updates at Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Nextdoor at @CityofSanJose. We encourage those who are sick or who are at higher risk for serious illness to stay at home, and to observe the County’s guidance on social distancing during this time. A person’s risk for COVID-19 is not related to race, ethnicity or culture. City employees must abide by the Discrimination and Harassment policy, and treat colleagues and members of the public with courtesy and respect. Discrimination and/or Harassment of any kind is a violation of the policies and will not be tolerated. Cancellations and/or Changes to City Services and/or Operations Senior Meals Program: The City of San José’s Senior Nutrition Program will transition to a To-Go format until further notice.Pathways to Climate Smart Careers: The youth career fair that had been planned for Saturday, March 7, at the Fairmont San Jose, has been cancelled.Non-Essential Employee Travel: The City of San José is restricting all non-essential travel for employees until the end of April. City Services and/or Operations NOT Changing San José Police and Fire Departments: Regular operations continue.Mineta San José International Airport: Regular operations continue, although Hainan Airlines has temporarily cancelled flights. Before heading to the airport, check with your airline for any flight changes.Garbage and Recycling Service: Garbage and Recycling service collection will continue as normal. Residents can contact their garbage, recycling, or yard trimmings company to report missed collections, damaged carts, or to change cart size. Some services, meetings may be cancelled or postponed.
