Last summer, twenty-three residents from across the City of San José were appointed to discuss potential changes to the City’s charter. Now, they’re looking to hear your ideas on how the City Charter can best serve its residents and community members. The last Charter Review Commission was 1985, so this is a major opportunity to evaluate the balance of power and the ways in which the public’s voice is considered in government decision-making.
At the end of the year, the Commission will deliver recommendations to Council that have the potential to shape the future of San José, and they need your input on how to improve accountability, representation and inclusion at City Hall!

El verano pasado, se nombró a veintitrés residentes de toda la Ciudad de San José para debatir posibles cambios a los Estatutos de la Ciudad. Ahora, se quiere conocer sus ideas sobre cómo los Estatutos pueden servir mejor a sus residentes y miembros de la comunidad. La oportunidad de revisar los Estatutos de la Ciudad es poco frecuente y brinda la posibilidad de evaluar el equilibrio de poderes y las formas en que se tiene en cuenta la voz de los ciudadanos en los procesos de toma de decisiones del gobierno.
Al final del año, la Comisión presentará recomendaciones ante el Concejo que tienen el potencial de dar forma al futuro de San José. Se necesita la opinión de la comunidad sobre cómo mejorar la rendición de cuentas, la representación y la inclusión en el Ayuntamiento.
