A Call for Ventilators

Currently, there are a total of 435 ventilators available in Santa Clara County’s 11 hospitals, and as of April 5 only 217 of them were in use. There are probably many old or broken ventilators in closets and storage rooms throughout Santa Clara County. Silicon Valley Leadership Group CEO Carl Guardino, working with Bloom Energy and Stanford University, is spearheading an effort to rapidly repair and recertify these old and non-working ventilators. Now thanks to the work of Carl, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, the County, and the Valley Medical Center Foundation, we are able to offer to offer a $1,000 incentive to anyone who turns over an old or non-working ventilator. If you have a ventilator you want to turn over, or if you would like more information, please call 1-408-885-5299. You can also email the VMC Foundation at VMCFOUNDATION@hhs.sccgov.org.

(this is an abbreviated email message from Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez-District 2)
