The Shasta/Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association (S/HPNA) and community members have been working for years to bring a farmers market back to the neighborhood. A couple years ago, many neighbors graciously responded to a S/HPNA poll sent out asking for your thoughts on the best potential sites for a market, the highest support was for a market at Lincoln. They worked tirelessly to identify an experienced operator willing to run the farmers market and to ensure it makes sense for the school and our community. In January, the School District approved an agreement with the operator.
Before the farmers market opens this spring, they want to ensure the community is engaged in the details of how it will operate. WCFMA (https://www.wcfma.org/) will be present at a community meeting on Thursday, March 29, at 6:30 pm (it will last until all questions/concerns have been addressed or 8:30 pm, whichever comes first). The meeting will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 1100 Shasta Avenue. Opening Day of the market will be Saturday, May 5. It will operate every subsequent Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm as long as we support it!
