On October 17, 2017, the San Jose City Council passed the Firearm Safe Storage Ordinance, which requires firearms to be safely stored in a locked container or disabled with a trigger lock upon leaving your residence. This ordinance requires the locked container to be meet state standards which can be found here: https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/gunsafe
